In just four weeks, Miller Electric’s Trade Professional Academy takes beginners with zero experience and equips them with six safety certifications plus foundational conduit, wiring, and job site skills, having an immediate impact from day one. Graduates walk in with no background in the trades and walk out hired by Miller Electric, fully credentialed, and on track to join the Electrical Training Alliance (ETA) of Jacksonville’s tuition-free, paid apprenticeship program: a four-year journey leading to certified electrician status, six-figure earning potential, college credit, full benefits, and retirement.

Day-One Paid Training

With demand for skilled trade professionals at an all-time high, the academy has trained 290 graduates to date, many of whom are now advancing through the apprenticeship. During the program, students receive hands-on instruction in OSHA-10 safety, conduit installation, wiring, forklift and lift/fall protection. They are paid $15/hour during training and $16.50/hour upon completion, with wages rising once they progress into the apprenticeship.

The ETA’s apprenticeship offers apprentices to earn college credits, receive health insurance and retirement contributions, and steadily increase their wages—starting at $18.16/hour in year one and reaching journeyman rates of $35.60/hour (Rates are effective through 1/1/24 -11/30/25, per the IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreements LU #177).

A Starting Path For Everyone

“Trade Pro was built for people of all backgrounds. Some starting with nothing, some starting over,” said Miller Electric instructor Parker Timmons.
“Our graduates don’t just leave with certifications. They leave fully employed, well-rounded, and on a direct path to apprenticeship with college credit, along with a future in a career that makes a lasting impact in their own community,” said Timmons.

Miller Electric manager Carrie Reid sees her program as fully encompassing, "Beyond technical skills, participants become well-rounded individuals, gaining tools for personal growth, resilience, and mental health awareness. By emphasizing both the trade and the person, Trade Pro Academy helps break the stigma that construction is only about physical labor and shows it is also a pathway to stability, balance, and long-term success."
